Ahh...this probably took me the shortest time to do in comparism to my other art works. Seriously, it was easy, no perspective, no angles, no detailed background...and best of all, not much of the hands and legs. ^-^
Okie, a little about this manga, it's got a long history. ^O^ Her name's Shiraha, meaning "white feather" (I looked up my Japanese dictionary), she's from a manga called "Fallen Feather" I was working on at the beginning of last year. (Yes you guessed it; I didn't go far, only got up to the 18th page. Still, it's got more progress than my current manga - 3 pages...and after nearly a year as well! =_
Shiraha (aged 14) is one of the "winged-beings". She was forced down to Earth by her older sister Maiyo to "learn" (I don't know what she would learn, but something along the line of "love"), so she can rescue her parents who were punished (they were sent down to Earth as human beings, their memories erased) by the Dark Lord because they tried to free a human couple. (The Dark Lord has a habit of capturing human beings, for what reason I still couldn't think of.) She happened to land in the bed of Ryou's (our main guy character) home. And thus our story begins.
In the picture, it's a scene when Maiyo left Shiraha and she slowly transformed into a human being. (Why, she can't go striding in Tokyo with two big shiny wings!) Shiraha is saying: "why, sister? Don't leave me..." It's written in Chinese because for some strange reason I can't type up the kanji. There are much more details to the story than that, but I have condensed it down. Does it sound too much like typical shojou manga?
The idea of this image is re-drawn, obviously. (It was supposed to be the title page of chapter 1.) I didn't even have a style of drawing last year. The main features of Shiraha are kept, such as her fantasizing long hair and the floppy jersey. (Floppy jerseys were my trend last year, although I didn't have the exposed shoulder on my original pic. I think I'm slowly falling to the hentai side (O_o).) I really love the hair, (as always, I comment on mostly the hair) it's so smooth, and...long! (I wish my hair could grow that long without becoming unhealthy.)
Ok, on with the techniques used in this image. Actually, it's not much different from how I usually do it. This time I took more care of the shapes of the shading and used my own choice of color instead of using burn and dodge. I've also inked some corners (e.g. the place where the head and neck connect) to give a 3D affect. It doesn't have too much color variation, just plain light blue. (I don't mind, lightblue's my FAVOURITE color -- I don't mean just normal "favourite", I mean like, I've got an obsession about light blue. My bag's light blue; my lamp's light blue; my clothes are light blue; I think I'm gonna get my Dad to paint my room light blue as well.)
Wow...O_o I've typed a lot. I'm only doing this because I'm typing it on notepad on my own computer. (Offline) Yes, and to keep myself from revision. (Brilliant, now I remembered...only five weeks to go till exams!)
